After a stormy Monday night and a busy Tuesday assessing damages, WDAY-TV is back on the air, while WDAY-AM 970 is streaming programming online.
Xcel Energy restored power to the WDAY building just before 5 yesterday afternoon. The station had been using a generator since 9 o’clock Monday night, but when it failed to keep equipment cooled programming was suspended.
Operations Manager Susan Eider says today they’ll be working with advertisers to reschedule and make up lost commercials.
On the radio side, power only complicated the real issue: damage to three towers on Main Avenue in Fargo.
The station is still not able to broadcast over the air. Engineers are looking at repairing or replacing the towers. No time frame yet on when that would be.
