WDAY-TV and WDAY970AM: Work continues to resolve storm-related issues

WDAY 970 AM transmitter towers damaged in storm

WDAY-TV and WDAY 970AM continue to work to resolve problems associated with last night’s severe weather. According to Operations Manager Susan Eider, “WDAY studios located in downtown Fargo lost power and the generator was unable to continue to cool the electronic equipment. Therefore, to refrain from damaging the equipment any further, it was necessary to shut down our broadcast facility hub which controls WDAY-TV serving the greater Fargo-Moorhead area, WDAZ-TV serving the Grand Forks-Devils Lake area, KBMY-TV serving the Bismarck and Dickinson areas and KMCY-TV serving the Minot and Williston areas are currently off the air. Once power is restored by Xcel Energy to the studios at 301 south 8th Street in Fargo, all ABC stations servings the entire state of North Dakota and East Central Minnesota will return to the air.”

WDAY AM 970 radio has been off the air since last night after WDAY’s transmitter towers located on Main Avenue experienced major damage. Eider says “once damaged is assessed and temporary repairs can be made WDAY 970 will also return to the airwaves.”
